Coalition Chairperson George Klein engaged with
Greenburgh's Town Supervisor Paul Feiner and the Town Council
on Wednesday, April 10th, and Coalition supporters would have been very proud! George followed Peter Schlactus, another Coalition leader, who Chairs the Westchester County Airport Advisory Board (WCAAB). Peter's remarks explained how the airport impacts communities around the County in ways both helpful and concerning, and he mentioned issues the WCAAB has been taking on, including noise complaints from Greenburgh. Peter encouraged members of the community to share their impressions about the airport with the WCAAB via email, meetings, etc. George introduced the Coalition and our mission, urged public involvement, and publicized our
upcoming press conference on PFAS contamination.
Most importantly, members of the Town Council got engaged. Supervisor Feiner asked if the Town could be provided with a flyer that gives instructions for lodging airport noise complaints, which he offered to make available at Town Hall and the Public Library. Councilwoman Juettner asked what the Council could do to support
proper management and monitoring of the airport. the Public Library. This could become a model for communities throughout Westchester. The Council also asked that George return to keep them informed about what is going on and what they as a Council can do to support the proper monitoring and management of the airport. It was clear that the Council was listening carefully and interested.
The Coalition Steering Group will meet to discuss how best to approach other municipal governments. We welcome your suggestions.
