Updates on Master Plan, Coalition Activity, More

Please join us for an hour-long meeting on Tuesday evening, September 20th, at 7pm via Zoom.  We are pleased that a senior elected County official will be addressing our group as part of the event.

A lot of this meeting will be about Airport Master Plan, which will affect our airport and its impact for a decade or longer. You must be a Coalition supporter to receive an invitation. We encourage you to become a supporter (it costs nothing and takes under a minute), and pleae invite your friends and neighbors to do so as well so they can also attend the briefing session and strengthen the Coalition. Zoom meeting invitations will go out the day of the briefing.

Here is the planned agenda. Visit the coalition’s website - www.ctpwae.org -for background info, especially the Events and Issues pages.

1. Welcome & Opening Remarks
  • Roll call and steering committee introductions.
  • Address from a senior elected County official
  • How the coalition works, what we have accomplished, and what access we have to CE Latimer and his team, and to Board of Legislators (BOL) members.
2. What happened at the Airport Master Plan public hearings in June, July and September, and where is the process headed?
  • Upcoming phases and opportunities for public participation.
  • Role of the County Executive, BOL, and FAA.
3. Bottom of the ninth, time to pitch in!
  • Need for subcommittees - forming now (for example: noise, social media, legal, climate change).
4. General Q&A - suggested topics
  • Why it’s important to closely monitor Million Air, NetJets and others (lack of restrictions on their numbers in current Master plan, security protocols and more).
  • What is the correlation between'building more hangars' and 'increasing the capacity to absorb more flights’?
  • Why Million Air's claim that'more hangar space will not cause more flights/more noise' is disingenuous.
  • The importance of commercial airline aviation - why keep the TUP (Terminal Use Procedures) law, or equivalent restrictions, in place?
  • How well organized our 'competition' is (how resourceful business and labor are; how they have been lobbying BOL and so forth).

Thank you for your support.  We hope to see you this coming Tuesday evening.
