Subject Line: FIXING what's wrong at the County Airport -- in under 2 minutes?!
Email Body Text:
Dear Friends and Neighbors:
Did you know?
- The airport lies barely a tenth of a mile from the Kensico Reservoir, and toxic groundwater contamination has been found there.
- From sleepy beginnings, it has grown into the 3rd-busiest airport in NY State.
- 85% of flights are private/corporate planes with NO direct benefit to residents.
- Given the airport's size (it's larger than LaGuardia), it has plenty of capacity to expand further.
This is our opportunity to form a strong, lasting watchdog and advocacy group - to make sure the airport remains a good neighbor and takes health & environmental concerns seriously. On issues such as noise pollution, drinking water contamination, and air pollution -- as well as safety, security and tax rates -- the public deserves a seat at the table.
Click here to sign up as a Supporter. It takes only 30 seconds and doesn't cost a thing. You'll be kept informed about the airport and you'll hear about easy ways to make a real difference.
The Coalition is already more than 2000 strong, and it's having an impact. County officials are enacting several of its proposals - shout out to them! Still, there is plenty to be concerned about at the airport and the best time to mobilize is now - before the next big crisis.
Check the website (www.ctpwae.org) for the Coalition's Vision Statement, current airport issues, events, coalition supporters, and a 'Plane Sense' blog. It has much to offer those interested in learning more.
Growing the Coalition's base of support is where our strength comes from, so please sign up. And please spread the word
to more friends and neighbors. Our health matters. Our kids matter. Support the Coalition today.
Sincerely,
[MY NAME]
